meet Saba
My journey to opening this restaurant has been nothing short of a battle against skepticism and adversity. I faced a constant barrage of negativity, with people telling me that Sunderland wasn’t ready for my idea, that it wouldn’t succeed. But I refused to be discouraged. My drive was fueled by a dream, a vision I held close, inspired by my father Syed Khalid, who dedicated his life to the restaurant industry.
This dream wasn’t about just any restaurant; it was about bringing to life a specific vision I had harbored for years. I had my heart set on a particular location, the place known as Victors. For two long years, I imagined turning it into my own culinary space, dreaming about it every single day. This dream became an ambition, a deep-seated desire that I nurtured amidst doubts and disbelief.
My journey has been more than just a business endeavor; it has been an emotional voyage, a testimony to the power of perseverance and the resilience of vision. The establishment of Saba Maison de Luxe isn’t just the opening of a restaurant; it’s a triumph of hope and determination over relentless skepticism. It stands as a symbol of my spirit and dedication, the realization of a dream against all odds.
When talking about support, though you are not longer with us your guidance and wisdom continue to inspire me every day Mark Hird. Thank you and your family for the indelible impact you’ve had on my life.
Finally I would like to add a very special Thank You to Linda Wrout from Lime Leisure Ltd.
Linda your unwavering belief in my dreams and your generous support in helping them become a reality have been the guiding lights on my path. I am profoundly grateful for your faith in me and the invaluable role you’ve played in turning my aspirations into achievements!

First time here and impressed from beginning to end. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were excellent.
Will return to try more.
Saba Maison De Luxe is a must-visit gem in Sunderland. Highly recommended for an unforgettable dining experience!
The food is fantastic and the portion size is generous to the point I couldn’t finish everything, all whilst being a more than reasonable price.
I’d absolutely recommend this place to anybody looking for a great place to eat in the city centre, the interior and atmosphere are absolutely brilliant and I’ll definitely be back.
From the moment I entered, the ambiance set the stage for what was to be a remarkable culinary journey.
The decor struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere.
The highlight of the evening was, undoubtedly, the food. Each bite was a revelation of well-balanced spices and textures.
First time here last night and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Amazing food, outstanding service and unbelievable decor snd surroundings ….. very swanky just what Sunderland needs - something different.
Can’t wait to go back

Staff had some friendly chat which was lovely.
The stand out was the food though. Wow.
Venue itself feels magical, you can’t compare it with anything you experienced in dining industry, it is just different. By different I mean it’s next level, and certainly the most exclusive place in whole Sunderland if not Newcastle
